Dr. Stephen P. Klinker is recognized as distinguished alumni from his alma mater Northern Michigan University where he graduated in 1978 with degrees in biology and business. He then attended Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine studying neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and neuropsycopharmocology. After receiving his degree he then attended The University Of Texas College of Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Upon graduation he moved to Austin Texas where he established a dental practice, and started his oral surgery-training program. He was also instrumental in starting the Veterinary Dental Society at that time.
Since 1984 Dr. Klinker has been involved in cross-cultural medicine starting with the Acoma and Navajo tribes of North America. He then traveled into dangerous war torn Central America leading medical, dental, ophthalmic, and chiropractic teams to provide much needed assistance to the people. He has received numerous awards for Outstanding Volunteerism both domestically as well as internationally. President George Bush recognized these efforts and the coveted Golden Jefferson Award for Outstanding Volunteerism was awarded to Dr. Klinker. He was then nominated as Ambassador to Honduras.
Dr. Klinker has established several non-profit organizations that serve the needs of others through medicine, dentistry, and optometry that are still in existence today. He also serves on the Board of Directors of many other organizations as a leader, director, and active member of those organizations. He is involved in several professional organizations in the areas of veterinary medicine, naturopathic medicine as well as dentistry, including the American Dental Association, Maine Dental Association, and the Kennebec Valley Dental Society.
Dr. Klinker is also a member of the National Ski Patrol, and Medical Advisor, for the State of Maine National Ski Patrol.
Dr. Klinker and his wife Lauren, a registered nurse, have traveled extensively throughout the world taking medical teams into areas where few westerners have been allowed to travel. Through these travels Dr. Klinker has had the opportunity to study medicine from a multitude of practitioners, not only from his teams, but those in the indigenous lands. He has worked from the Mosquito Coast to the Amazon to the Himalayas and has been blessed to develop relationships that allow a trust to be established between the native practitioners and his teams for the mutual good of all. He is establishing health clinics in many countries as well as orphanages and churches. Through these efforts Dr. Klinker has seen and been exposed to virtually all types of medical practices being used today throughout the world. He now blends the knowledge he has obtained form these aspects of medicine to dentistry, in order to treat the whole patient, rather than just teeth.
Dr. Klinker and his family now reside in Madison Maine, and are involved in several community activities. We welcome you to the full practice of dental health.

Hello, I'm Lauren! I was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts, lived many years in Texas, and moved to Maine in 2002. I've been involved in the entire process of opening a new practice, really enjoying all aspects of it, especially the decorating! Our patients are wonderful, and I truly enjoy seeing their dental needs being met. We have an amazing staff, and it's a pleasure to serve our patients alongside them. My previous education and experience was as an R.N., setting up medical and dental clinics in remote areas of the world with Dr. Klinker. I've also been an E.M.T. and worked in oncology in a large children's hospital in Texas. Traveling is my passion, along with family time, shopping, cooking and all kinds of animals! Please let me know how we can serve you better.
